Day 2 Reflections

- I went to the School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering. We got to meet with Professor Kevin Kho, and learned the basics about distillation and also what and how a GC machine (Gas Chromatography) works. Then, we made our way to the laboratory and viewed the Distillation Columns and got to learn how to use the GC machine. We then tried to make a mixture of water, methanol and ethanol into a product of 77% ethanol as a challenge.
- I learned that to be efficient in a group one has to cooperate and split workload properly so that the team can work well. I also learned about the specific details in refinery distillation and the use of a GC machine and roughly how it works.
- Today's activities were very meaningful and also very informative. It has allowed me a glimpse into the working world where people are required to use such equipments to make products to sell to others.
- This has shown me a detailed explanation of distillation in the real world
